We are a full service, though small scale landscape contracting company serving South Charlotte and Western Union County.
We have a flare for "taking a different approach" to landscaping,
and "bringing out the LIFE in your backyard".
Well, Fall is coming to an end and this week welcomes our bare bones friend Winter. Often the landscape seems bare in Winter, once the leaves have fallen from the trees and most flowers have gone to sleep beneath the mulch. But Winter has many possibilities as well!
This is the ideal time to plant, especially deciduous plants and transplants. Right now tree trimming is much easier both from a planning point of view as well as from that of the cleanup.
Cold hardy Pansies and decorative vegetables can add color to bare areas in your beds. This is a great time to catch up on maintenance and decide on adding new design elements, like where would be the best spot for one more evergreen. Deciduous trees now reveal their beautiful branch structure, which is ethereal when seen in front of a late afternoon sunset! Sangu Kaku, always a beautiful upright Japanese Maple,
really makes it's owners proud as it's bark turns bright red to coral
resulting from low temps and brighter sun.
If you have a fescue lawn, don't forget to winterize, you'll be glad you did, and if you have bermuda spray your weeds, even with roundup if you want to. Pre-emergent herbicide is a good idea for those warm season lawns as well.
Something else to keep in mind during Winter is that often landscape contractors and arborists offer you lower prices to keep their volume of work up. Nurseries all over town will be having 30-75% sales to get ready for Spring inventory. These run unscheduled from late October through early February. If you want a good deal on a tree this is the time to shop and the earlier the better, those deals go quick at 75% off. At Let It Fly we also offer even better value now, typically a 15-20% savings on labor, and some great prices on our landscape trees.
Well, thanks for stopping by and take some time this season to enjoy those oaks and maples in all their naked glory and remember that holiday lights wouldn't be as much fun in Summer because you'd have to stay up all night just to see them.
Let us know if we can offer some ideas for your project, or give you an estimate on any service you might need. We can repair or adjust irrigation systems, take soil samples, and spray any weeds you may have or have you!
We love the landscape and there is no part of the industry that we don't deal with, whether it is design, build, install, or maintain. Please take a few moments and read the article by Brandon, "What is Backyard Living?".
